Eric B. McLoyd is the Executive Director of Greater Englewood Community Development Corporation.
Eric holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a specialization in Corporate Finance. He is currently a student at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management where he is studying non-profit management in Kellogg’s Executive Scholar program. Eric has experience providing independent consulting services to small businesses and non-profits.
Eric has been involved with the start-up and operation of two other Chicago area non-profits. In 2007, he co-founded The Giving Tree Educational Consultants. The Giving Tree works to strengthen the network of education services and support that a community provides for its residents. The other organization Planet W.U.N., founded in 2005, operated a character education program for young girls at Englewood’s Gage Park High School. The program was called Ladies A.L.I.V.E.
Eric began his professional career working at Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios and then went on to pursue a legal career. His legal work led him to become a real estate lobbyist and senior level Paralegal whose work focuses around real estate development for public and private clients. Eric has also had the experience of servicing several notable Chicago area non-profit clients through a variety of real estate development and legal issues. To enhance the effectiveness of his work in Englewood, Eric plans to leverage the relationships built in all 3 sectors, as well as those built during his educational pursuits.
Eric is passionate about improving the economic conditions that currently exist in Greater Englewood and is vested in ensuring that the quality of life improves for residents of the area. It is his hope that the work of the Greater Englewood Community Development Corporation becomes a model for future community development corporations.
